Mission
This
series will make available in English substantive collections
and analyses of oral tradition, particularly folktale and
legend, from throughout the Nordic-Baltic region. Series titles
will include reissues of important texts in the field as well as
new studies focusing on the diverse oral traditions of Europe's northern periphery. In addition to ensuring the
continued availability in print of important past works of
folklore research, the series will also seek out new voices in
the field, presenting novel approaches and theories in works
which combine scholarly significance with an approachable style.
The series will present the extensive oral traditions of these
countries in a series of comparable, detailed works. This series
would seek to become established as a series of first recourse
for scholars, storytellers, and generalist readers interested in
the vibrant oral traditions of the Nordic and Baltic region.
